Recently named one of the top 25 CBSE Schools in West Bengal, Saraswati World School hosted its highly anticipated Annual Sports Meet. The day-long extravaganza saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and parents, showcasing the school’s dedication to promoting physical education, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The event kicked off with a ceremonial garlanding of the Late Saraswati Deviji, followed by the lighting of the lamp by Honourable Vice Chairman Mr Vinod Singh and Director Mrs. Sneha Singh. The ceremony was graced by esteemed Chief Guest, Miss Tuhina Maity, a talented student-athlete and Kabaddi champion, and special guest Miss Aratrika Chakraborty, a Class 3 student who set impressive records in karate.
Miss Tuhina Maity, who has represented West Bengal in various national and state-level tournaments, emphasized the importance of sports in her inspiring address. Miss Aratrika Chakraborty, known for her incredible feat of 480 non-stop punches in 1 minute, also highlighted the significance of physical education.
The day’s proceedings commenced with hoisting the school flag, followed by the school anthem, a March Past, and a pyramid oath-taking ceremony led by the school captains. The Vice Chairman handed over the flare to the School Captain, marking the official start of the event.
A major highlight of the day was the “Go as You Like” event for Pre-Primary and Classes 1-5, where students showcased their creativity by dressing up in their favourite costumes. The track and field events, including sprints, relays, and jumps, saw keen competition among students from different classes and houses. Fun sports activities like the crawling race, frog jump, toffee race, and bucket the ball added to the excitement, and children showcased their karate skills as well.
The flare run, led by the School Captain, added to the excitement of the event, with students and teachers cheering the participants on. Parents actively participated in their race event, with exciting prizes given to the winners. The event concluded with a “Pass the Ball” game for teachers, bringing a joyful end to the festivities.
The prize distribution ceremony was held simultaneously with the events. Winners in various categories included:
- Long Jump (Girls Category): Prajukta Ram (1st Position)
- Back Race: Subrna Sarkar (1st Position)
- High Jump (Boys Category): Piyush Singh (1st Position)
- Maths Race: Ankush Mukherjee (1st Position)
- Dress Up Race: Kalla Enosh
- Three Leg Race: Dhanishtha Das and Icchha Biswas
- Other winners included Abhinav Singh, Vanshika Ghosh, Ratul, Harshit, and Akanksha Jadav.
